OREM (News4Utah)- A 17-year-old student at Timpanogos High School was suspended from school Thursday after police say students reported she had posted a possible threat on Snapchat.
Officers with the Orem Police Department say they worked with the Alpine School District to identify the female suspect. After interviewing her and her parents, they say no credible threat was found and that "she had zero access to any firearms."
"She was immediately suspended from school and we have some extra presence at the school today to ensure the safety of the students and faculty at Timpanogos High."
Officers say threats like these will always be taken seriously.
"Although this particular case didn't rise to the offense of a Terroristic Threat, it is still serious enough for the possibly of a misdemeanor charge to be filed against the suspect," they said.
This is the fourth threat reported at a Utah school this week. Wasatch High, Springville High and Hunter High also saw similar threats this week.
