MOAB, Utah (ABC4 Utah)- UPDATE: Southeast Utah Health Dept. lifted the drinking water restrictions in Moab Wednesday, September 6. Residents are safe to resume using tap water.
The City of Moab has instructed some of its residents to only use bottled water.
City public works officials say the potential contamination happened after chemicals and black water were poured near a water hydrant on a construction site at the Entrada housing development near 400 North. They say it is possible the chemicals seeped into the water lines connected to the hydrant.
For the next 48 hours (starting noon Thursday) the following areas are under the restriction:
Moab City is providing clean culinary water to residents. Moab City Water Dept. has a water truck in place at 719 West 400 North.
