Plane crashes in St. George, one person confirmed dead

UPDATE: The man who died in the crash has been identified as 69 year old Sterling Plamer from St. George. 


ST. GEORGE, Utah (News4Utah) - One person has died after a plane crash in St. George Saturday morning. 

Ian Gregor, FAA Communications Manager said the crash happened at about 9 a.m. at the St. George Airport with a single-engine Colonial C2 experimental plane. The pilot was was only one person on board.

Details as to why the plane crashed and the identity of the individual who died have not been released.

The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will be investigating the crash. But Gregor said it could take up to a year for the cause of the crash to be identified. 

More details are expected to come Saturday afternoon.
