Massage parlor raided for suspected prostitution

MILLCREEK, Utah (News4Utah) - Unified police raided a message Patrol Wednesday afternoon and say they arrested two women on suspicion of prostitution.

Detectives served a search warrant around 2 p.m. at the parlor located at 1231 East 3300 South in Millcreek.

Nearby businesses say they had been complaining for months about the locations and are glad to finally see something being done.

Nearby businesses say this location popped up almost a year ago, but they didn't start to see serious traffic until about four or five months ago.

For many they are glad to see this addressed because of safety, but others worried the women inside may have victims of sex trafficking.

Workers near this message business say they're relieved something was finally done about the illegal activity they had suspected for some time.

"I'm so happy that it's gone."

Forny was just getting back from lunch when she saw a slew of officers taking evidence out of the massage business.

For her and other women who work in this complex, they worried about the clientele it was bringing.

"It's really creepy to walk past and through a parking lot or take garbage out when there's a bunch of old perverts sitting in cars watching your every move,” said Forny, works at a neighboring business.

Detectives from Unified Police Department say they are still processing evidence from the scene. They note businesses aren't easy to bust.

"We have to be able to prove a crime is occurring. Getting that proof is a bit of a difficult thing," said Lt. Manfred Lassig with Unified police.

Those who work nearby worry the two women who were arrested may have been victims of sex trafficking, because they rarely left the businesses even when it was closed.

Forny and others worry similar businesses will continue to pop up, because of what they found while looking into this message parlor.

"Websites that have young women in lingerie, and you know obviously what they’re there for whether they're spelling it out or not."

Detectives are still investigating this case and so although two women were arrested for suspected prostitution if could end up being a sex trafficking case.
