GARDEN CITY (News4Utah) – Utah Highway Patrol say the driver of a semi-truck died after crashing into a Garden City store Wednesday evening.
Troopers said the semi driver blew through a stop sign at the intersection of Hwy 89 and Hwy 30 in Garden City causing it to jackknife and overturn.
The semi rolled on its side and slide into a sporting goods store called Pugstones Sporting.
The two occupants in the semi were taken to the hospital in critical condition, but Thursday morning troopers said the driver had died. He has been identified as Ahmed M. Abdelgader, 31, of Omaha, Nebraska.
Investigators say just before the crash the witnesses said the driver was "driving erratic".
No one in the sporting goods store was injured in the crash.
This is a developing story. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
