MESQUITE, Nevada (News4Utah) – Law enforcement agents have apprehended a man wanted on sex abuse charges out of Salt Lake City.
The Violent Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team tracked down Javier Cabrera, 26, in Mesquite Wednesday. He was taken into custody in a remote neighborhood outside of town.

Cabrera had been on the run for about a month.
Initial charges against Cabrera stem from an incident in August 2017. A probable cause statement said Cabrera met the victim by posting a listing on Facebook seeking a roommate for his home in Murray.
Court documents state on one occasion, the victim reported Cabrera forced her to perform a sexual act on him.
Cabera was charged with one count of forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony.
VFAST is a US Marshals led fugitive task force, comprised of federal, state and local officers from the District of Utah. The Violent Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team focuses on fugitives wanted for crimes of violence.
