How to get tickets to see 'Hamilton' in Salt Lake City

Be in the "Room Where it Happens"

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (News4Utah) – Tickets for one of the hottest Broadway shows will go on sale to the public this week.

Producer Jeffrey Seller and Zions Bank Broadway at the Eccles announced Monday that single tickets for Hamilton will go on-sale to the public on Friday, February 9 at 10 a.m.

Tickets will be available at arttix.artsaltlake.org and the Eccles Theater Box Office.

For Hamilton Ticketing Tips and Frequently Asked Questions, you can visit http://www.Broadway-at-the-Eccles.com.

There is a maximum purchase limit of four (4) tickets per household for the engagement.

Bruce Granath with Broadway at the Eccles said customers need to be ready to purchase their tickets at 9 a.m. on Friday.

Customers should create an arttix.org account before Friday morning so they don't get slowed down by the signup process, Granath said. A "virtual waiting room" will open up on the ArtTix website, allowing first customers to get a spot in "line," so they can have first dibs on ticket purchases starting at 10 a.m.

Granath also said customers should avoid sharing pictures of their tickets on social media, and if they do, they should cover the bar code.

"You're potentially giving your tickets away," Granath said, warning of online scammers that can produce fake tickets with your bar code.

There will be no electronic tickets for Hamilton in Salt Lake City. All tickets purchased will be mailed to customers.

Granath compared demand for Hamilton to the demand Salt Lake City has seen for shows like The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, and Wicked. He recalled when Les Miserables first came to Salt Lake City in the 1990s, the phone lines were tied up in neighboring areas because 1.2 million people tried to contact the ticket offices. He said he expects similar numbers and possible issues when thousands - or more - log on Friday to purchase Hamilton tickets

Tickets range from $75 to $165 with a select number of $300 premium seats available for all performances. There will be a drawing for 40 seats for all performances. Prices and details will be announced closer to the engagement.

“It's tempting to get tickets any way you can. There are many sites and people who are selling overpriced, and in some cases, fraudulent tickets. For the best seats, the best prices and to eliminate the risk of counterfeit tickets, all purchases for the Salt Lake City engagement should be made through arttix.artsaltlake.org," said Seller.

Hamilton is the story of America's Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington's right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and was the new nation’s first Treasury Secretary.

The musical hit became a record-breaking show when it scored 16 Tony Award nominations in 2016. It would win 11 Tony Awards that year.
