Summer is the time to sport a radiant, sunkissed glow for both your day and evening looks. That youthful shimmer can be accomplished using a highlighter in just the right spots, to play up you high points, and camouflage your weak ones.

What is a Highlighter?

Highlighting makeup is the lightest hues on the color spectrum, amped up with a glittery shimmer. It can come in a cream, powder or pencil, making it easy to apply to the different areas of your face. When the light catches highlighter, it gives off a shimmery glow, drawing focus to your best features, and pulling certain aspects of your face to the forefront.

Where to Apply Highlighter

The magic of highlighter is all about light, so you want to apply it to areas that will catch the light the most. The most important area to focus on when applying highlighter is around the eye. Drawing light into the eye brightens up your whole face. Apply highlighter just above the brow, and just below the brow, right along the browbone.

If your under eyes tend to be darker, applying highlighter under your eye can add the lift and light you need to correct the issue. Adding a little highlighter right at the inner corner of your eye, near your tear duct, will bring out your eyes even more.

Applying highlighter over the top of your blush, right at the apples of your cheeks gives your cheekbones a lift, and brightens up your expressions. Adding a little to the peaks of your lips lights up your smile, and gives your lips a fuller, youthful look.
