The biggest thrill was the dancing dragon that went for blocks thanks to the People of Chinese Heritage.
They were of course pulled by horses back then.
“The horse drawn floats, they were wagons and horses. Later they refined the decorating of the floats by putting napkins through chicken wire,” Parkinson said.
He especially liked making a float commemorating
“I remember once making a miniature of the Walker Bank building. It was the first sky scraper of 16 floors. I remember making a miniature of that,” Parkinson said.
