Kim Fischer is an award winning journalist who anchors ABC 4 Utah's 5pm, 6pm and 10pm weekday newscasts. She also contributes special reports throughout the week.
Kim prides herself on her versatility, covering everything from hard crime -- to human interest stories that impact the community. In her time at Good4Utah, Kim has won several awards from The Society of Professional Journalists, and has received national recognition, winning a Gracie Award from the Alliance for Women in Media for her story Rape in Utah Courts.
Kim grew up in Sugar Land, Texas. After graduating high school, she attended the Radio Television & Film School at The University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. While enrolled, Kim hyped up sports fans as Scrappy the Eagle mascot, and was an intern at KXAS-TV in Dallas.
Kim landed her first on-air job in Abilene, Texas as the morning anchor for KRBC-TV. From there, she moved to the Texas panhandle to become the main anchor of the FOX affiliate in Amarillo, Texas.
From 2005 to 2007, Kim took a break from news and tried her hand at hosting. She was the face of the popular Dallas television show "Hot On Homes," but it didn't take long for her to realize she missed her real passion: journalism. So Kim packed up everything again and headed to San Antonio, where she was the lead crime reporter for WOAI-TV.
From 2009 to 2011, Kim was back in Dallas working at the station where she first started as an intern. Kim was the morning reporter and primary fill-in anchor at KXAS.
Now, Kim has taken the biggest leap of her career by coming to the Beehive state. And as the saying goes, "with the biggest risks, come the greatest rewards." Kim has found her forever home in Utah.
When she's not working, you can usually find Kim outdoors -- hiking with her dog, Paris, or attempting to ski Utah's magnificent slopes with her husband, Matt.
Kim is also dedicated to empowering women and helping animals. She volunteers for organizations like The Rape Recovery Center, UCASA, The National Ability Center and Best Friends Animal Society.
