Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal said an 86-year-old man was driving westbound on 3900 South with a woman in the passenger seat, also 86. Hoyal said the GMC Envoy began making a strange noise. The vehicle then ran two red lights, one at the intersection of Wasatch Boulevard and the other at the intersection of Interstate 215.
The vehicle then crashed through the backyard fence and crashed into a shed. Both people inside the vehicle were transported to Intermountain Medical Center in fair condition, Hoyal said.
Police were still investigating the crash Sunday afternoon, but investigators believe the driver may have gotten his foot stuck on the gas pedal.
