“It’s the easiest way to find everything from after school program or child care to getting your taxes prepared for free,” says Liz Oliver the 2-1-1 director at United Way in Salt Lake City.

"Right now we are getting about a 1,000 calls a day because we are in the height of the tax season an we have a free program called VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) that people can call if they make under $52,000 and get their taxes prepared for free,” said Oliver.
"Our most common referral is for utility and rent payment assistance,” said Oliver.
They also have a high number of calls from families looking to be connected to food pantries or medical assistance. “So maybe they don't have health insurance and they need to find a low cost no cost clinic or maybe they want to get health insurance and they want to better understand their options.”
