Tyler Haws named honorable mention All-American

PROVO, Utah (ABC 4 Sports) - BYU junior guard Tyler Haws became the first Cougar to be named an AP All-American since Jimmer Fredette.
PROVO, Utah (ABC 4 Sports) - BYU Junior guard Tyler Haws was named an Associated Press All-America Honorable Mention on Monday. He is the first Cougar to be named an All-American since Jimmer Fredette in 2011.

Haws helped lead the Cougars to a 23-12 record and 13-5 in conference play. The Cougars finished second in the West Coast Conference tournament and made it to the second round of the NCAA tournament before losing to Oregon.

Haws was named West Coast Conference Player of the Year and was named to the All-WCC Team and WCC All-Tournament Team. He was also named to the USBWA All-District First Team and the NABC All-District First Team.

Haws finished sixth in the nation in scoring at 23.2 points per game and led the WCC in scoring for the second consecutive season. Haws also tied for the most points scored in a game this season with the 48 he scored against Portland. Haws is currently fifth in career scoring at BYU and with his 1,944 points is the highest scoring player through his junior season in BYU history beating out Danny Ainge's 1,685 through his junior year.
