Two dead following plane crash near Santa Clara

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) – Two people are dead after a plane crash near Santa Clara late Wednesday morning.
WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) – Two people are dead after a plane crash near Santa Clara late Wednesday morning.

At approximately 11:09 a.m. the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received information of a possible aircraft crash southwest of Santa Clara.

Deputies and emergency personnel were dispatched to the area. Investigators used a life flight helicopter to find the aircraft. 

The Federal Aviation Administration has been notified and will be working with Sheriff's Office Detectives in the investigation of the incident.

The pilot and student co-pilot have been identified as 75-year-old Gary Hawes from St. George and 38-year-old Brad Brian from Washington, Utah.
