CACHE COUNTY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) -  Police are now identifying the man who died in a crash in Logan Canyon Tuesday. Two separate crashes in the same area of Highway 89 left one the man dead after his car rolled into the Logan River.

Police identify the driver as 90 year old Gordon Larson of Trementon.

Around 4 o'clock Tuesday afternoon two separate cars rolled over and slid off the road up Logan Canyon. People in the first car weren't injured. But at that same time someone noticed a separate set of tracks veering off the road. That's when people noticed a second car upside down at the bottom of a 150 foot ravine in the middle of the river. That car belonged to Gordon Larson.  It's unclear why Larson's car lost control, but police believe the conditions were extremely slick.

"This are being in the canyon, being in the shade most of the day. As soon as the temperatures start to dip, any of the moisture freezes on the road, gets slick in certain spots," Sgt. Cade Brenchley, Utah Highway Patrol.

Police used a crane to pull the Larson's car out of the icy water. But before police arrived, about 12 to 15 of the people passing by actually hiked down the ravine, walked into the river and flipped the car over onto its wheels. Those same people could see Larson had already died.
