Tooele County Sheriff's Dept. under investigation

TOOELE COUNTY, Utah (ABC 4 News) – Multiple sources inside the Tooele County Sheriff’s Department confirmed an external investigation into the department and Sheriff Frank Park for alleged corruption and misuse of funds.
TOOELE COUNTY, Utah (ABC 4 News) – Multiple sources inside the Tooele County Sheriff’s Department confirmed an external investigation into the department and accused Sheriff Frank Park of wrongdoing.

According to numerous sources from within the department who wished to remain anonymous, top officials are accused of retaliating against other employees for the past several months.

“Once they decide they want to get rid of somebody they will,” said an employee who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Insiders in the department accused Park of corruption and misuse of funds.

The sources within the department claimed Park is under investigation for the disappearance of $47,000 from an evidence room. They also said he let his wife drive a county issued car and he abused a company gas card during unauthorized trips in and out of state.

ABC 4 Utah reached out to Tooele County for comment.

“Tooele County officials can confirm that they have spoken with professional investigators outside of Tooele County who are looking into allegations within the Sheriff’s Office,” Spokesman Wade Matthews said. “Tooele County will cooperate fully with this investigation.”

“Morale is at an all time low,” another source employed by the county said. “People are leaving the department because of the muck the administration continues to uphold.”

ABC 4 Utah is told outside legal counsel met with sheriff’s department employees on Thursday and planned to continue talking with employees about allegations on Friday.
