Tony Toscano from Talking Pictures Reviews This Weekend's Movies

Tony Toscano from Talking Pictures reviews two movies hitting theaters Friday, "If I Stay" and "Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame to Kill For".
If I Stay

Life changes in an instant for young Mia Hall after a car accident puts her in a coma. During an out-of-body experience, she must decide whether to wake up or not.
If I Stay is aimed right at 15 year old girls... it that kind of sappy romantic film craved by teens. That's not saying there's nothing redeeming about the movie - it's actually well acted by Chloe Grace Moretz - but it still is what it is - a overly sappy tearjerker.
It gets a C and is rated PG-13.

Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame to Kill For

More of the same noir graphic novel stuff from Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez as some of Sin City's most hard-boiled citizens cross paths with a few of its more reviled inhabitants.
The film intertwines characters from Miller's stories and stuffs them with lots of tough talk, brutal violence and gun play.
Although this film is overly violent - I did overall like its style and effects.
It gets a B and is rated R.
