This week on The Younger You Dr. Barson and Troy are talking about breast reduction and lift. Dr. Barson talks about the different techniques involve with a breast lift. The type he is performing this week is called a Benelli and is minimally invasive. Skin around the nipple is incised and the nipple and skin are pulled together like a wagon wheel. Before this is done our patient, Lori, had liposuction to reduce the size of her breasts. There are other methods of breast lift that are much more invasive and leave a much larger scar. The Benelli only leaves about a 3 inch scar around the areola that will be difficult to see. Another type of lift called a lollipop can leave up to an 18-inch scar.
Another key factor in this type of lift is the fact that Lori is awake the entire time. Dr. Barson only uses local anesthesia to numb the area where the procedure will take place. This makes for a much safer, less expensive procedure and there will be less downtime, bruising, and swelling after the procedure is done.
Lori couldn’t be happier with her new chest. She says that she is much more comfortable now and clothes fit her much better. The downtime for this procedure is about a week to return back to daily life and a month to really start doing heavy activity. It will take a few months for the full result to show because of slight swelling that occurs.
