The Advocate Leadership Program is a youth leadership development program. Each year, they accept up to 6 Advocate Leaders in each high school who raise awareness about the issues surrounding extreme poverty and run clothing and book drives to benefit Choice Humanitarian.
The youth they chose this year are quite inspiring. Katie was so impressed by the teens for having so much energy and a great desire to help people.
Malia is a senior from Mountain View High School in Orem. Malia wanted to collect books, clothes, and toys. So she came up with a plan -- She selected friends to help, invited everyone to her home for meetings, and filled her garage. Malia’s goal was to make 150 bags, and she surpassed it by making 209 bags.
Shawn is a sophomore from Spanish Fork School. At one of the early meetings people talked about storing bags in their garage. He had no garage, so he decided to fill his room until he couldn’t sleep in it anymore!
