WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) -- A high school student is in serious but stable condition after he was struck by a school bus in West Valley City Wednesday morning.

Granite School District Spokesman Ben Horsley told ABC 4 that the collision happened around 7:45 a.m. A 15-year-old boy was in the crosswalk at the intersection of 3100 South and 2200 West when he was struck by a bus that was turning left. Horsley said the Granger High School student may have stepped into the intersection late but added the driver has been placed on administrative leave.

"Any time a driver is involved in a serious accident, it's grounds for disciplinary action," Horsley said.

West Valley City Police say the student crossed against the signal and that they would not cite the driver for the crash.

The student was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Horsley said the boy is in serious but stable condition.
