At approximately 3:20 p.m., the driver fled from an officer going South on Washington Fields Road (300 East). The officer chose not to pursue the driver into residential areas, instead putting out an “Attempt to Locate” for the wanted vehicle through the dispatch center.

Officers returned fire, striking the suspect. The suspect was treated at the scene by medical personnel and taken to
No officers or other civilians were injured and there are no public safety concerns in the area at this time. The investigation is ongoing and the Washington City Police Department is requesting that the public stay out of the area if at all possible until the investigation is concluded.
The suspect has been identified as 36-year-old Jamon V. Cranney of Washington City.
Cranney is still hospitalized in critical condition.
