SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - U.S. Senator Mike Lee has been forced to sell his Alpine "dream home" in a short sale.

The sluggish housing economy drained his home's value, according to an article in the Salt Lake Tribune.

Senator Lee bought the house for more than $1 million at the height of the housing boom, according to the article.

After he was elected to the Senate, the article said that Lee had a hard time paying it off.

The home eventually sold for around $700,000, while the bank lost about $4000,000 in the sale.
