SANTA CLARA, Utah (ABC 4 News) – Barbara Johnson gets emotional when thinks about the aftermath of Tuesday’s flood in her home.
“It’s just hard to see your home like that,” Johnson said.
The mud masking her belongings is a constant reminder of the extensive damage.
“We can’t afford to rebuild back to its original state,” she said. “We are just going to do what we can.
Johnson walked the ABC 4 News cameras through her basement to show what was left of a family room, guest room and pantry. The moisture has left a lingering odor.
Johnson is more focused on saving family valuables and pictures.
Johnson said the clean up process could have been a lot worse if it weren’t for the help her family has received. She credited approximately 75 volunteers who dug through eight inches of mud in her home to save valuables.
“It just goes to show you the caliber of people that live here,” she added. “They rally around and they don’t care who you are. They just know you’re in trouble and they’re there.”
