SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Salt Lake City officials are hosting a public workshop to gather input on a new performing arts center and planned downtown cultural arts district.

Officals say the workshop will begin with a presentation about the project.

Atttendees will also be asked for input on what they think is important about downtown Salt Lake City, and how they think a new theater might help revitalize the area.

City officials have proposed building the new performing arts center downtown on Main Street with a state-of-the-art theater and seating for 2,500 people.

Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker and Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon plan to attend the workshop set for 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the city's public library downtown.
