PARK CITY (ABC 4 News) – Leaders in the Park City School District are getting creative when it comes to raising money for programs.

"The school budgets, we all know the story we hear in on the news, the economy took the big hit school budgets are being cut there are not the taxes to support it,” said Jennifer Billow, park City Education Foundation.

To make up where money falls short, the foundation puts on an annual run called “Running with Ed”. The money raised goes to fund educational programs in the Park City School District.

"One of our first initiatives was funding a scholarship counselor at the high school,” said Billow. “We started funding it part time and that was so successful the school district took it over and started funding it.”

Last year, teams that participated in the 38 mile relay run raised more than $138,000 that went to programs directly impacting students in Park City—programs such as teacher training, preschool and an after school program for at risk youth.

The run takes place May 18. If you would like to register, click here.
