According to Lieutenant Justin Hoyal of the Unified Police Department, two men with handguns entered the store around 9:40 pm, ordered two customers to the ground and confronted the three clerks on duty, one of whom recognizes one of the guys from another robbery at the same store three weeks earlier.
"The suspects from what had taken place on March 8th to last night are getting more aggressive and its becoming more violent," Lt. Hoyal told ABC 4 News.
The pair fled on foot with money from the register and personal property taken from the customers. Surveillance cameras captured photos of the masked men.
"The first one is wearing a black hoodie with red stripes on the sides and a number 3 on the shoulder," Lt. Hoyal said. "He had the hood pulled up and a facemask that covered his face. The 2nd suspect is also an adult male and was wearing a black hoodie with gray interior lining and had one white or tan sweatpants, black shoes and was weaing black gloves."
Flyers posted on the doors Monday provided details from similar holdups at nearby Family Dollar stores. One took place at 3100 South, 3530 West in West Valley at 9:48 pm on Thursday, March 27th and another happened at 857 Redwood Road in Rose Park at 9:55 pm on Saturday, March 15th. In that robbery, the two suspects sprayed the clerks with pepper spray. All four robberies took place minutes before the stores were set to close.
"Any time you have somebody coming into a business in this manner, brandishing a firearm, ordering people to the ground, it's terrifying," Lt. Hoyal said. "These actions that these suspects took were very violent and we want to get 'em caught before somebody gets hurt."
