Chancery Clerk Sam Abraham tells the Greenwood Commonwealth that if the deal goes through, Management and Training Corporation of Centerville, Utah, may have to build the county a new jail.
Leflore County supervisors this week wrote a letter in support of MTC's effort to house federal inmates, which could bring in 300 jobs.
Abraham says the county could get a new jail out of the deal because federal rules don't allow local inmates to be housed in the same facility as federal inmates.
