Power outage caused major delays on Bangerter

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) - West Valley City police reported a blown transformer caused a power outage in the area of Bangerter Highway and 3500 South.  Several traffic lights were out and caused major delays in the area.

Nearly 2,400 people were without power and Rocky Mountain Power is estimating power to be restored around noon.

Police asked drivers to obey officers directing traffic there or just avoid the area altogether.

Police also say a snow plow hit a light post near 3500 South and 3600 West.  They believe it is unrelated to the power outage but also contributed to traffic delays.  The driver was not hurt in the accident.
