The Unified Police Department says the unidentified man has pulled off five robberies in Midvale and Taylorsville and attempted one more. In each case, the man would enter the bank, hand the teller a note and flee on foot with undisclosed amounts of cash.
Police say no one has been injured in the robberies and the suspect has not shown or threatened to use any kind of weapon.
Most recently, the suspect walked in to three banks and robbed two of them -- all in one day. On Friday, the man went into a US Bank location in Midvale, but fled while waiting for a teller. About 30 minutes later, he showed up at a Zions Bank branch in Midvale and robbed that location. Then about an hour after that, he robbed a First Utah Bank location, also in Midvale.
Before then, police believe the suspect also robbed a Midvale Zions Bank on Dec. 6, a Taylorsville America First Credit Union on Dec. 20 and a US Bank in Midvale on Dec. 23 -- the same location he attempted to rob on Friday. In some cases, the suspect has used a fake beard and mustache and has usually worn a hat or knit cap.
Anyone with information about the suspect is urged to call Unified Police at 385-468-9814.
