Nexstar acquires ABC 4, CW 30 from Newport Television

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Newport Television announced the sale of 12 stations to Nexstar Broadcasting on Thursday, including ABC 4 (KTVX) and CW 30 (KUCW) of Salt Lake City.
SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Newport Television announced the sale of 12 stations to Nexstar Broadcasting on Thursday, including ABC 4 (KTVX) and CW 30 (KUCW) of Salt Lake City.

Nexstar also acquired KLRT and KASN of Little Rock, Arkanasas, WPTY and WLMT of Memphis, Tenn., WJKT of Jackson, Tenn., WSYR of Syracuse, N.Y., WETM of Elmire, N.Y., WIVT and WBGH of Binghampton, N.Y., and WWTI of Watertown, N.Y.

Nexstar also purchased Inergize Digital Media from Newport.

ABC 4 and CW 30 were purchased by Newport as part of the former Clear Channel TV group in 2008.

Newport sold most of its other TV stations to Sinclair Broadcasting and Cox Media Group.

The transactions are all subject to FCC approval, and were expected to close by the end the fiscal 2012 year.
