Motorcyclist goes into the river in Big Cottonwood Canyon

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - According to dispatchers, a motorcyclist and his motorcycle went off the road and into the river up Big Cottonwood Canyon near the S-curve Sunday afternoon.
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - According to dispatchers, a motorcyclist and his motorcycle went off the road and 100 feet down into the river up Big Cottonwood Canyon.

Preliminary reports are that the 42-year-old motorcyclist successfully climbed out of the river.

Authorities said the motorcycle got stuck in a tree.

The accident occurred near the S-curve up Big Cottonwood, and was likely caused by loose gravel that caused the rider to lose control.

Dispatchers also reported the man sustained minor injuries, including lacerations to his legs.
