MURRAY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) - A fire Wednesday night left a mother and her two children hurt.

Murray City fire responded to an apartment fire at Creekside Apartments at 5300 South 430 East.

The fire broke out around 10 p.m. leaving a mother and her two children hurt.

When the fire department arrived they found a mattress on fire.

“Everything in a home is flammable. We reach certain temperatures and everything goes off, so that's why they chose to go fast action. That's part of our tactics to put an end to a situation really quick,” said Pat Killion, Murray City Deputy Fire Marshall.

Damage was pretty light, but as a precaution, they did evacuate the building and checked the other apartments for smoke damage.

The mother was taken to the hospital and her children are staying with a neighbor.

No word on what caused the fire.
