Man arrested in fatal Salt Lake City stabbing

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah)- Police have arrested a man in connection to the fatal stabbing of a 33-year-old man Saturday morning.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah)- Police have arrested a man in connection to the fatal stabbing of a 33-year-old man Saturday morning.

Salt Lake City Police identified the suspect as Harlin Ramos, 32. He was booked into jail on suspicion of first degree felony murder.

Salt Lake City police identified the victim as Joaquin Gonzalez of Chicago, IL. 

Police said around 1:20 a.m., Gonzalez and a woman were in vehicle just west of the Gateway mall near 500 West and 100 South when they were approached by Ramos and another man.

A fight broke out between Gonzalez and the two men. Sgt. Robin Heiden said, “[He] was stabbed multiple times and died at the scene.”

The female was uninjured.

Heiden said the Ramos and the other man then fled by foot southbound on 500 West.

Police initially thought the second man may have also been involved in the stabbing and said they were looking for two suspects, but after Ramos's arrest, investigators determined that the second man had nothing to do with the stabbing.
