SALT LAKE CITY (Good 4 Utah) - A program aimed at teaching teens the dangers of distracted driving and drinking and driving is traveling across the country. It’s called the Ford Driving Skills for Life Program and it's in Utah this weekend.

Thursday Good 4 Utah's, Felicia Martinez got all suited up in an impaired driving suit to demonstrate what the teens will be doing.

Wearing the suit is just one exercise the Ford Driving Skills For Life program  is having Utah teens experience so they see first hand how drinking and driving don't mix.

"When you drink alcohol it affects your decision making process. The number one area it affects is the decision to drive in the first place,” said Mike Speck, lead facilitator for Ford’s Driving Skills for Life Program. He goes on to say “The reason we do this is because car crashes are the number one cause of death for teenagers in the United States.”

The Ford program wants to change that, so they travel the country and educate teens through free driver training programs.

“We do that through driver training on our free programs and we do that through helping tot influence the decisions drivers make when they drive,” said Speck.

The event is happening this weekend, June 20th and 21st at Manheim Utah in Woods Cross. For more information on how you can register visit https://www.drivingskillsforlife.com/events-cat/events or download the attached form on this page.
