How To Get Started Running

You've got your running shoes on....now what?
Running is great because it is so easy to start with such a minimal investment. And the benefits women reap from taking time to invest in themselves topples over into every other area of our lives. Running makes us confident, focused, goal oriented and committed. It's more than a cardiovascular workout. It's a physical release and spiritual recharging! Who doesn't need that?! Lauren Zimmer, from Salt Lake Running Company says, that the key to getting started running is to just to get out there and run. The 2 most important items you need to start is a good sports bra and good shoes. Lauren says, lots of women feel guilty leaving their families to go run but she says the benefits to running will spill over to your family. When first beginning, running with a goal in mind helps a lot. Whether it's a race you are training for or a distance you want to be able to run, a goal keeps you accountable. Cross training is important too be sure to mix it up sometimes with a hike or a swim.

Salt Lake Running Company has everything you need to get started and would love to help you begin. They are also throwing an event on August 5th called Mother Runner that is celebrating and connecting other mother runners. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. so ditch your sweaty workout wear and kick up your heels with mingling, snacks, and amazing giveaways. The authors of the book, Run Like A Mother will be there too. They will be discussing their journey of training for a half marathon and sharing good tips for all runners.
