UPDATE: Taylor Daniels was found safe in Houston Friday morning. He was able to get some money out of the kindness of others and take a bus from Utah to Houston. He then borrowed a cell phone from a taxi cab driver and called his mom. He is currently staying with some cousins in Houston while his parents fly back to Houston.

OGDEN, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) - A Houston area family is in Utah Thursday searching for their missing autistic son.

Taylor Daniels disappeared from Waterfall Canyon academy in Ogden about 45 minutes north of Salt Lake City almost a week ago.

His family says they just talked with him last week and had been to visit him for prom. He's enrolled in a program there to help autistic teens transition into independent living. While the program gives independence to students his family says they are worried because the 17-year-old has no phone and no money and can be vulnerable given his social challenges.

“I just talked to him Friday morning and there was no indication of trouble so I think he is in trouble. Either he can't get out or doesn't know but we are coming for you,” said Taylor’s mother, Amy.

Daniels parents and aunt and uncle plan to go door to door with fliers in Ogden the next few days. The academy is at the base of the mountains in a wooded area.

A spokesperson for Waterfall Canyon Academy says Taylor presents no danger to others and getting his picture out there may be the best hope in finding him.
