SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A man in the Sugarhouse area shot one of three peo of Salt Lake City on Tuesday.
SALTLAKECITY (ABC 4 News) - A man in the Sugarhouse area shot one of three people attempting to invade his house Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the shooting happened at 2303 S. Green Street (650 East) in Salt Lake City.
"I thought it was this dude working on something," said Barrett McGraw, Sugarhouse resident.
Barrett McGraw is one of only a few people who heard the gun shots in Tuesday's home invasion.
"I didn't think anything of it until I came downstairs and heard everything they were saying, a lady was screaming, and I saw two black guys got off and ran off in their car," said McGraw.
Police tell ABC 4 around 3:00 p.m. a family was just sitting at home in their apartment on Green St., when they got a knock at the door from someone they knew.
"They started to let them in the door, and as the person came through, three other people were waiting," said Lt. Bryce Johnson, Salt Lake City Police Dept.
The three people rushed in and showed the homeowner their guns. He had a gun of his own, and started firing at the people invading his house. One suspect got hit, and bullets began flying everywhere. You can actually see a bullet hole in the house next door. That next door neighbor didn't want to be identified, but said he almost got hit.
"Just as I sat down, one of the bullets went past my head, and lodged in the wall right behind me, I got hit by some glass and a little bit of plaster, it missed me by roughly four to six inches," said the next door neighbor.
Others tell ABC 4 the whole situation is frightening.
"It's still shocking it happened right on my street," said Margo Soon, neighbor.
"Not exactly something you want to come home to," said Luke Fehr, neighbor.
"This neighborhood is getting worse," said Paul Newton, neighbor.
Police said the one person who was shot was taken to a nearby hospital, and they now have them in custody. However, investigators are still looking for the other two suspects. If you know anything about this crime, call police.
