Gun sales changing in Utah

UTAH COUNTY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - The Sandy Hook Elementary shooting responsible for killing 20 children and six adults prompted Utah's most prominent classified website for guns to shut down.
UTAH COUNTY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - The Sandy Hook Elementary shooting responsible for killing 20 children and six adults prompted Utah's most prominent classified website for guns to shut down.

"I thought wait a minute. I want to fill this void," said Nick Moyes.

Two friends decided to fill the void with a new website called Utahgunexchange.com. It was up and running less than six hours later.

"I thought lets make something everyone is going to enjoy. If you want something done right you do it yourself," said Moyes.

The website allows anyone in Utah to list and buy guns with no fees attached. The two say it's perfectly legal for private parties to buy and sell guns in Utah without a background check as long as the buyer and seller remain in Utah.

Utahgunexchange.com has generated more than 7.7 million hits and has sold roughly 3000 guns so far.

"It's pretty amazing. I'm thrilled to death," said Moyes.

"I personally didn't anticipate it getting as big as its gotten. I'm just flabbergasted by the reception," said Kenny Barlow.

The website features pistols, rifles, shotguns and many more weapons. It also includes a calendar to inform people of pro-gun events in the Beehive State.
