Mills will lead ABC4 Utah’s and CW30’s political news coverage. Since joining the station just 11 months ago as an anchor of ABC4’s weekend newscasts and a reporter, Mills has quickly established himself as one of Utah’s most insightful political reporters. His excellent coverage includes regular reports on the establishment, introduction and impact of the new Affordable Care Act, continuing coverage of accusations of corruption in the Attorney General’s office, the 2014 Utah Legislature and exclusive, in-depth interviews with newsmakers and leaders such as Governor Gary Herbert. In addition to his political reporting duties, Mills will also produce and host Good 4 Utah special reports and programs focusing on government, elections and politics throughout the year.
“Glen is committed to informing viewers about what’s happening on Utah’s Capitol Hill and inside the many government centers around the state,” says Richard Doutre` Jones, ABC4 Utah and CW30 Vice President and General Manager. “Glen has a wonderful ability to present complicated information to viewers in an easy to understand manner. Those involved with Utah politics and our regular citizens, appreciate Glen’s skills to clearly explain the issues we face as a state and the actions our lawmakers and elected officials take on our behalf.”
“I was born and raised in Utah and developed an interest in the inner workings of local politics at an early age,” says Mills. “I got my first taste of covering the Capitol as a student at the University of Utah and was hooked right away.”
“Glen Mills is a great political watchdog for Utah,” says George Severson, ABC4 Utah and CW30 News Director. “He’s diving right into the issues, asking tough questions and making sure Utah news viewers are getting the information they need. Glen is great at explaining how our laws really impact our lives.”
Mills transitions into his new role as Chief Political Correspondent beginning immediately. He’ll continue to anchor ABC4 Utah News at 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. on the Weekends through May 4th and will fill in on the anchor desk as needed.
“I believe local government has the most impact on the daily lives of Utahns,” Mills says. “I look forward to the responsibility of keeping viewers informed about what’s going on at City Hall, the Capitol and how our tax dollars are being spent.”
