Fourth grader gets closer to her dream of a playground for disabled kids

10-year-old Jaylee Dutcher recieves $7600 check after an Ogden fundraiser.
OGDEN, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) - The world is Jaylee Dutcher's playground and now she wants to share it with other disabled children in Weber County.

The 10-year-old fourth grader at Washington Terrace Elementary in Ogden was born with spina bifida and uses a special wheelchair to ride at local skateparks.

"I just go down really tall ramps," Jaylee told ABC4 News.

"Nothing has ever held her back," Jaylee's mother Nichele Bradley said Monday. "We've never given her any limitations and supported everything she wants to do and just let her go."

"I try to progress at the skate park like Aaron 'Wheels' would," Jaylee said. "He's my idol."

Daredevil wheelchair athlete Aaron "Wheels" Fotheringham, was also born with spina bifida. The two got to meet each other at the Nitro Circus earlier this year thanks to ABC 4.

Now Jaylee is trying to raise $50,000 to build an adaptive playground for disabled children. So far she has over $6,000 in pledges on her Go Fund Me page, titled Every Child Deserves A Playground. Thanks to a fundraiser Saturday night at Brewski's in Ogden, she has now more than doubled that.

The bar collected donations from customers and local businesses and on Monday afternoon, Brewski's employee Casey Chambers presented Jaylee with a check for $7,600.

"On behalf of the Brewski's team, here's a check to go toward your park," Chambers told her. Jaylee replied "That's amazing."

Chambers described the feeling of handing Jaylee the oversized check.

"It's awesome," Chambers said. "I wish I could do more. I really do. I wish I could dig the hole for her park right now."

"It felt amazing," Jaylee said. "I just want kids to be able to play and have a good childhood. I just want them to be like a normal kid."
