SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4Utah) - The 30th firearm found in 2013 at the SLC International Airport was confiscated from a male traveler.

Sources say on Tuesday, August 27 the man was attempting to cross the security checkpoint with the .380 caliber firearm in his carry-on. The gun was loaded with seven rounds and one chambered.

Police officials say the man is charged with “carrying a loaded firearm through a screening checkpoint.” This year the number of firearms found at SLC security checkpoints is up from 20 in 2012 to 30 this year.

Airport representatives remind airport customers that firearms or realistic replications of firearms are prohibited in carry-on baggage.
