On Saturday evening, Utah Highway Patrol identified the victims as Delphine John, 44, and her two daughters, 18-year-old Deliah Ramirez and 3-year-old Anaya Orozco. A fourth victim in the crash, 36-year-old Jose F. Adame-Orozco was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Adame-Orozco was driving the family's Chevrolet Suburban when it was hit head-on by the driver of a Dodge pickup. Adame-Orozco also was the father of the 3-year-old girl who died in the crash.
According to UHP, the driver of a gray Dodge pickup truck was driving recklessly on the highway at about 6:30 p.m. One driver reported to officials that the pickup was unable to stay in one lane and eventually pulled over. A witness pulled in front of the pickup in an attempt to talk to the driver, but the pickup turned around and began to head east in the westbound lanes of I-80.
The pickup then collided with a Chevrolet Suburban head-on, killing three of the four people inside the vehicle.
The driver of the pickup was flown to the hospital in serious condition. He was identified Saturday by UHP officials as Paul Michael Mumford, 36.
UHP has been unable to identify the victims in the crash and are asking for the public's help. Anyone with helpful information is urged to call Utah Highway Patrol dispatch at 801-887-3800.
