Dr. Hadjbian, founder of Vein Institute of Utah, says varicose veins can do more than keep you from having fun this summer. If you ignore your varicose veins, they will won't go away and they will get worse over time.
Ignoring the symptoms of aching legs, swollen legs, restless legs, cramping, varicose veins and spider veins, your vein disease can progress into one of three very serious conditions:
- Statis dermatitis, which causes inflammation, heaviness, achiness, and tiredness in your legs and ankles
- A venous ulcer, where the inflammation from the white blood cells causes your skin to die, can cause a bleeding sore that can take up to months or years to heal
- Superficial phlebitis, which is a surface clot, can be quite painful and can act like a deep vein clot
Dr. Hadjbian will be doing free vein screenings on Thursday, July 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
