Alexis Rasmussen's body was found buried in a shallow grave in Morgan County in 2011. She was the Millerberg's babysitter. The 17-year-old was injected with drugs and overdosed. Dea and her husband Eric then buried the body. Eric was found guilty in causing Alexis' death. He was sentenced to life in prison for child abuse homicide, sex with a child, obstruction of justice and desecration of a body.
Wednesday morning Dea Millerberg pleaded guilty to three 3rd degree felonies: desecration of a body, obstruction of justice and obtaining a prescription illegally.
"It was a good deal for us," says Dee Smith, the Weber County attorney.
Smith says Millerberg cooperated with the prosecution in providing "key testimony." He says she could be sentenced to prison for up to five years on each count. But Smith says they've agreed if she gets prison time the sentences will be concurrent.
Millerberg's attorney says she is a good candidate for leniency.
"She's turned her life around since this has happened," says Michael Bouwhuis.
He says she's been off drugs and been in treatment for nearly two years. Bouwhuis says the state has returned the children back to her.
She will be sentenced Aug. 21.
