Sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, National Night Out is a yearlong community building campaign designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, generate support for local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Along with the traditional outside lights and front porch vigils, most cities and towns celebrate National Night Out with a variety of special citywide and neighborhood events.
From 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on August 5th, residents of Ogden and surrounding areas, as well as those around the country, are asked to lock their doors, turn on their porch lights, and spend the evening outside with neighbors, police, community groups, and businesses to aide in the fight against crime. During this exciting event, there will be many opportunities for local residents to gather information and services at no cost as well as enjoy great entertainment and food.
