Sgt. John Jackson of the Spanish Fork Police Department said the fire started at about 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday while the occupants were away at a Christmas party. The home owner's neighbor called to inform him that the house was on fire, and by the time the home owner made it back to his house the entire property was in flames.
Jackson said firefighters were able to save a front porch where a girl's presents were being kept, saving most of the gifts.
Fire investigators were still working Wednesday to determine the exact cause of the fire. Utah Red Cross, who is assisting with relief, said there are two adults and three children in the family. The Red Cross provided food and shelter to the family.
