Cadaver dogs to search Powell family home for Susan Cox Powell

Police will be searching Susan Cox Powell’s former home in Puyallup, Washington
SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 UTAH) New details are emerging in the case of Susan Cox Powell. She has been missing since December of 2009.

Police will be searching Susan Cox Powell’s former home in Puyallup, Washington again. This time authorities will use cadaver dogs.

Susan Cox Powell and her husband Josh use to live in the home with Steven Powell.

The West Valley City mother of two has been missing for 4 years.

Her father, Chuck Cox has been searching the Utah Desert for his daughter. Police have searched other properties in Oregon. Both areas were looked into with K9 units.

“Chuck has been very anxious to get in that house and make sure there’s a thorough search for her body,” said family attorney Anne Bremner.

Steven Powell, Susan’s father-in-law, was convicted of voyeurism after taking pictures of two young children. After serving time in prison the courts ordered Powell to give up his home.

Previously, that same family Steven Powell took pictures of bought the home in an auction.

“I’ve gotten a lot of calls over the years from people, anonymous and otherwise, saying y’know check around the flowers around the house, she could be buried there,” said Bremner.

Authorities say the home is in tact.

“There’s potentially evidence dealing with computers,” said Bremner. “But also they’re going to have cadaver dogs go there to the house to see if there’s any evidence of Susan there.”

Authorities look to search the property as early as next week for evidence of Susan’s body.
