Brawl mars historic Utah Valley victory

OREM, Utah (ABC 4 Sports) - An on-court brawl between New Mexico State players and Utah Valley University fans erupted after the Wolverines knocked off the Aggies in overtime, 66-61, to take over sole possession of first place in the WAC.
OREM, Utah (ABC 4 Sports) - Ben Aird scored 21 points and Keawe Enos hit clutch free throws as Utah Valley State topped New Mexico State 66-61 in overtime on Thursday in a showdown of Western Athletic Conference co-leaders.

At the end of the game, while Utah Valley fans stormed the court New Mexico State's K.C. Ross-Miller threw the basketball at Utah Valley's Holton Hunsaker, igniting an on-court brawl between players and fans. At least one Aggie player threw a punch at a Utah Valley fan.

Enos hit three free throws with 4 seconds left in regulation to force overtime and hit four more in the last 11 seconds to ice it. He finished with 11 points for the Wolverines (17-10, 11-3) and Zach Nelson added 10.

Daniel Mullings led the Aggies (21-9, 10-4) with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Sim Bhullar had 10 points, 14 rebounds and 6 blocks.

Utah Valley closed regulation with an 8-1 run over the last 2 1/2-minutes as the Aggies were struggling at the line, finishing 15 for 30.

A 3-pointer from D.K. Eldridge put New Mexico State up 56-55 with 3:26 left but Utah Valley scored seven straight, four from Aird, who had six in overtime.

The Wolverines have two games remaining against Texas-Pan American and Cal State Bakersfield, and can clinch the #1 seed in the WAC Tournament.
