Boy drowns at Cottonwood Heights swimming pool

COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) -- A 9-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital after he was pulled unconscious from a pool in Cottonwood Heights.
COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) -- A 7-year-old boy drowned at a swimming pool in Cottonwood Heights Sunday afternoon.

Capt. Fitzgerald Petersen of the Unified Fire Authority said firefighters were called to the Cottonwood Recreation Center at 7500 S. 2700 East at about 2:20 p.m. on a reported drowning. 

Emergency responders performed CPR on the boy, and he was rushed to Intermountain Medical Center. The boy was unconscious and not breathing when he was transported, Petersen said. 

Cottonwood Heights Police Sgt. Corbett Ford said the boy was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. It was unknown how long the boy had been in the water before he was taken out of the pool.
