RIVERTON, Utah (ABC4 Utah) - A newborn baby covered in pink, cooed as Debbe Magnusen's snapped her picture.

Meanwhile the baby's mother proudly looked on.

This is baby number two for Emily Magnuson of Riverton. "I love being a mom," she said.

For that reason she admired the relationship her own mother was building with her new granddaughter.  Then, Debbe gushed, telling ABC4 Utah they baby reminded her of hundreds of lives saved.

"I realized the other day she gave birth, that's just like the other baby that I rescued."  Then speaking of her daughter she said, "I'm so proud of her and I'm so blessed."

Magnuson is the proud founder of Project Cuddle.  It is a nationwide organization that has helped hundreds of women close to abandoning their child get the resources they need.

"No One should ever be without a mommy or a daddy," she said.

For that reason, Project Cuddle has saved more than 740 babies from abandonment by facilitating adoption, foster care, and other services.  Rescue operations Emily understands.

"I love my mom, my birth mom for making the decision to have me and to give me to someone who could take care of me," she said.

Emily told ABC4 Utah that her birth mother was addicted to drugs when she gave birth.  She had planned on abandoning her daughter until Magnuson stepped in.

"My adoptive mom, Debbe, she gave her an alternative option to that," she said.  "She helped her realize that she didn't have to do that."

In fact, Magnuson adopted Emily.  She was the first of dozens of children later fostered or adopted.

Emily said it gave her hope and will give hundreds of beautiful babies like hers, a fresh start.

"It's just amazing to get that second chance," Emily said.  "I got it and I'm a better person for it."
